Crypto Adoption Week 2026 continuing

More than 1.1 million Swedes own crypto – crypto ownership in Sweden has nearly doubled

New survey data from K33 Research shows that more than 1.1 million Swedes now own cryptocurrencies, almost double the level reported just a few years ago. Crypto ownership has grown across age groups, but remains especially strong among younger adults, with Sweden still leading the Nordics in absolute number of crypto owners.

Why it matters: The figures confirm that crypto has moved from a niche investment to a mainstream asset class in Sweden, with long‑term projections pointing to as many as 1.6 million Swedish crypto owners within the next decade. This reinforces the need for clear regulation, institutional‑grade infrastructure, and better investor education as adoption continues to accelerate.

Did you miss the news from yesterday’s Danish survey? For the first time, more Danes under 40 own cryptocurrencies than hold shares via an investment platform, according to a new national survey from K33 Research in partnership with Nordic Blockchain Association and Firi. The survey was presented during Crypto Adoption Week 2026, where Denmark kicked off a series of live events also covering Sweden, Finland, Norway, and the broader Nordic region.

The Danish results point to a clear generational shift in how young adults invest, with digital assets increasingly preferred over traditional equity exposure. The Danish crypto market continues to grow steadily, with more than half a million adults now owning crypto and one in four expecting to own it by 2036.
